“Shooting Star – Tom Tyler
Catchy, radio-friendly, pop/rock song from up & coming singer songwriter, this track is one of many gems on his debut album Silence.”
“…effortless ability to write some of the most beautiful rock songs around. Shimmering guitars and soaring vocals combine to make an extremely powerful rock offering, and it’s with no hesitation on our part that we love this guy..” Overplay
“The understated passion of the vocal gently massages your ear holes as the stripped-back guitars and drums gradually layer-up the sonic duvet. It’s got the honest delivery and pared-down production to make it the kind of pure, soulful number Richard Ashcroft would eat his aviators for.“ MusicPress
‘The Rocker’
“Silence”- Tom Tyler
Now I don’t normally go for this fey, singery songwritery type of gubbins. Maybe it’s the time of year, maybe it’s my aching, ageing limbs, and life of bitter regrets, but blow me down if he hasn’t gone and touched me in my special place.
Now that’s not normally a good thing, but there is something about his girly pop-rock that lifts it from the abyss of so many, with a mixture of great hooks, plaintive lyrics, and some electronic swooshes hither and thither. The single ‘Shooting Star’ is a fine example of what Tom Tyler gets up to, all melodic, swirly, and as catchy as an STD at Picardy Place teen night. So you may want to give that a try first, but I doubt you’ll regret leaping into the entire album.
Whether it’s the radio friendly sounds of ‘This Time’ or the more adventurous ‘Skyline’, this is a fella who knows how to write a good tune. And write one that nestles in your head for far too long. His is a name that should be much better known, and you should be doing your bit to bring more attention to a chap who tells the story of his life in an interesting and dynamic way. He never gets dreary or too wishy-washy (oh, yes he does!), and if you’re at that point in your life where you want to hear something a cut above the average, then “Silence” is an album you’ll return to time and time again.
